Since 1990, the ILCS has attracted nearly 900 members in 43 countries and territories on six continents. The Society also serves as an umbrella organization for regional societies established in recent years.
The Society unites scientists, engineers and students working in
the broad field of fundamental and applied aspects of different liquid
crystal systems, including thermotropic, lyotropic, polymer and
polymer-modified liquid crystals. The Society fosters communication among
members, establishes the venue of the biennial international conferences,
and publishes Liquid Crystals Today ,
which appears under the sponsorship of
Taylor&Francis. Please send any news or other items of interest you might
wish to contribute to
Membership dues allow a discount on registration fees at the International Liquid Crystal Conferences, cover free substription to Liquid Crystals Today, encourage doctoral research activities through the Glenn Brown Awards and support our World-Wide-Web Internet server, http://www.ilcsoc.org.
We look forward to continued growth of the ILCS. We very much hope that the members of the Society will continue the active exchange of ideas and encourage their colleagues to join the Society. The Society welcomes specialists and students working in non-traditional fields such as liquid crystals of biological significance.
