ILCC 2022: Place and dates updated!
26/07/21 23:13
In response to the global pandemic caused by the new coronavirus, the Organizing Committee of the 28th International Liquid Crystal Conference (ILCC) and the International Liquid Crystal Society (ILCS) have decided to postpone the 28th ILCC (ILCC2020) to 24th to 29th July 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Postponement of the ILCC is unprecedented in the long history of the conference since its inception in 1965. We hope that ILCC2022 will be a successful meeting: even if it cannot be held in person in Lisbon, this event will still go ahead in order to reflect the latest advances in the field.

XXIII Conference on Liquid Crystals – Chemistry, Physics and Applications
21/06/21 17:53
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Is it our great pleasure to invite you all to participate in the XXIII Conference on Liquid Crystals – Chemistry, Physics and Applications – CLC 2021 which will be held in the Karkonosze mountains, Poland, from October 18th (Monday) to October 22nd (Friday) 2021.
A long break in the direct personal contacts of the scientific society and the hope for a better pandemic situation encourages us to organize the CLC2021 conference in the stationary form.
The applicable safety rules will be followed during all activities while the conference. In a case of introducing pandemic restrictions which would make the meeting impossible, the conference will be canceled and the conference fee will be paid back (100% - with the reduction of bank transfer costs). We do not plan to organize online version of the conference instead.
The web page for the Conference is already available:
http://www.clc21.pl
We kindly encourage you to issue a preliminary application available at the conference website (https://clc21.pl/user/register) by the 30th of June 2021. This will help us to arrange an appropriate conference venue in the Karkonosze mountains.
Abstract submission due date is the 31st of August 2021.
We are looking forward to see you in person in Poland.
With best regards,
Local Organizing Committee

47th German Liquid Crystal Conference
15/10/19 16:58
We are happy to announce the 47th German Liquid Crystal Conference, which will be organised in 2020 together with the Polish Liquid Crystal Society as a German-Polish Liquid Crystal Conference. The conference will take place in Magdeburg, at the Festung Mark from Tuesday, March 24 to Friday, March 27, 2020.
This conference continues the tradition of bringing together researchers from various fields of liquid crystal soft matter and beyond. The German Topical Meeting on Liquid Crystals has long become an international-scale workshop promoting an exchange of views among scientists working with Soft Matter and, in particular, liquid crystals. It became a tradition to organise the German LC Conference in collaboration with Liquid Crystal societies of other countries. This time, we are bringing together the most advanced researchers from Poland and Germany in a joint effort.
The activities at the meeting will consist of a few invited lectures from distinguished international scientists, and oral presentation and posters mainly from young researchers. Diverse topics cover a wide range of chemistry, physics, and application technologies of thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystals, including relevant areas such as
- Soft Matter Physics and Material Science
- Synthesis and Characterisation of New Liquid Crystal Compounds
- Adaptive Optics and Photonics
- Colloid chemistry and physics
- Nanoscience
- Thin Fluid Films
- Active liquid crystals
- Biological and medical applications
On behalf of the organisers, we ask you to mark this date in your schedule for 2020.
We will invite you to submit contributions and to register for the meeting shortly. The deadline for abstract submission is January 6, 2020.
Detailed information will be announced soon.

International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference
19/08/19 09:13
International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference
15-18 September 2019, Eindhoven, The Netherlands
The International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference (ILCEC) will be held from September 15 – 18, 2019, at NATLAB in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The ILCEC 2019 will bring together chemists, physicists, and engineers to share both fundamental advances and discuss application opportunities for this exciting class of materials.
ILCEC 2019 is organized in a building with history, the Philips NATLAB. It is the original building of Philips Research Laboratories founded in 1914 by Gilles Holst, the world-renowned inventor of the low-pressure sodium lamp. The building was also the home of many other Philips Inventions such as the compact disc, the magnetic cassette tape and the IC LOCOS technology and was visited by many famous scientists including Albert Einstein in 1923. Also, at Philips Research, the liquid crystal network technology was developed in 1985. Initially to function as low thermal expansion coating for optical telecommunication fibers. Later very successfully for optical film improving liquid crystal displays on their viewing performance.
We hope you will consider joining us in Eindhoven!
