September 2019 liquid crystal picture

The image of  the compound cholesteryl perlagonate has been selected as the September 2019 ILCS liquid crystal picture. This picture represents a nice example of color and texture change during transformation from the  SmA* to the TGBA* phase. It will now be featured on the home page of the ILCS website until the end of September 2019.

International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference

International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference

15-18 September 2019, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

The International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference (ILCEC) will be held from September 15 – 18, 2019, at NATLAB in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The ILCEC 2019 will bring together chemists, physicists, and engineers to share both fundamental advances and discuss application opportunities for this exciting class of materials.

ILCEC 2019 is organized in a building with history, the Philips NATLAB. It is the original building of Philips Research Laboratories founded in 1914 by Gilles Holst, the world-renowned inventor of the low-pressure sodium lamp. The building was also the home of many other Philips Inventions such as the compact disc, the magnetic cassette tape and the IC LOCOS technology and was visited by many famous scientists including Albert Einstein in 1923. Also, at Philips Research, the liquid crystal network technology was developed in 1985. Initially to function as low thermal expansion coating for optical telecommunication fibers. Later very successfully for optical film improving liquid crystal displays on their viewing performance.

We hope you will consider joining us in Eindhoven!

EuroDisplay 2019 conference

Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder concerning the forthcoming 34th SID Conference "EuroDisplay-2019" hosted in Minsk from September 16 to 20, 2019.

Please note that abstract submission and early bird registration dead line are 15th of June and 15th of July 2019 correspondingly.

"EuroDisplay-2019" conference has been for many years an important event for the display community. The strength of this meeting is to gather a selection of important topics into a single Conference on a short period of time, maximizing the chances of fruitful interaction between scientists, technologists and engineers.
The large array of invited and keynote speakers highlights the broad field of interest covered by this conference, ranging from synthesis and characterization of modern display materials and physical phenomena to advanced displays, production technologies and equipment.
Finally, in addition of the high quality scientific communications, coming to Minsk might also be the good occasion to discover our city.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Minsk in September, 2019.

Best regards,

The ED-2019 Organizing Committee
