Currently, Ahlam Nemati is working on Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute. She is in Chemical Physics Interdisciplinary Ph. D. Program in Dr. Torsten Hegmann group. Her main focus is on Nano materials, and Cholesteric Liquid Crystal.
A unique morphology for bent-core liquid crystals forming the B4 phase has been pictured for a class of tris-biphenyl bent-core liquid crystal molecules. These multi-level hierarchical self-assembled structures, rivaling dandelions on transmission electron microscopy, and show immense structural and morphological complexity.
Jury comment: The picture represents a unique morphology from bent-core liquid crystals pictured under the transmission electron microscopy.
